This used to be my “Running” Page. But since moving to Alaska and having some intermittent running issues, plus a whole lot of winter, the running part actually fell to the wayside a bit, and I’ve been working to find other ways to stay active. I also don’t like to count treadmill workouts for some reason, so I haven’t recorded any runs on this page since early October 2010. So with that in mind, I’ve changed this to my “Fitness” page instead, and I’m going to try to track more of my workouts here.


Even though I haven’t been running as much, I have committed to running until I love it. I’m getting there, slowly (too slowly) but surely (I think?). I started running for the first time in November 2008, and in that time I have run:

7 – 5k races
1 – 8k race
1 – 5 mile race
4 – 10k races
1 – 12k race
2 – Half-marathons

I still have some goals I’m working towards with running – primarily regarding speed and hills. Now that we live on the side of a mountain, the reality of hills is a little more daunting than it was in Charleston, SC where the land is flat as a pancake unless you run the Ravenal Bridge.

Running Goals Accomplished in 2009:

  1. Ran the entire Cooper River Bridge Run in April 2009
  2. Ran 100 miles before May (cumulatively)
  3. Ran a Half-Marathon in August 2009
  4. Ran 281.7 miles

Running Goals Accomplished in 2010:

  1. Ran the Disney Princess Half-Marathon in March 2010
  2. Ran the Cooper River Bridge Run in March 2010

    You rock! So proud of you! I need to get my milage up for the Bridge Run, not doing more than 3 miles lately…
