Win Some, Lose Some

February 2, 2011

Let’s start with the WINS, shall we? There have been several good things that have happened over the last few days:

– The treadmill is FINALLY FIXED!! Woohoo!! The guy came out last night and replaced the belt and a few screws that were apparently not the ones that should have come with the treadmill. It now appears to be working fine. We are still under the warranty, so I was also thrilled we didn’t have to pay for it. 🙂

– I learned how to use our coffee maker! This sounds like a no-brainer, but I had never made brewed coffee before. Ever. Howdy usually gets the coffee ready the night before and sets the timer so it’s ready when we wake up in the morning. But he was flying late last night, and I can’t function at 7am without caffeine, so it was absolutely necessary to figure it out myself! (This is after my last unsuccessful attempt when I forgot to pour the water into the reserve part, and when it beeped telling me it was done, I pressed the button and only hot water came out. Yeah, that happened.)

– I no longer feel like I have a small child sitting on my chest, suffocating me, and overall I feel much better (although still no voice – see LOSERS below).

– I purchased a Groupon for a 4-week (3 days/week) Bootcamp-type thing at a local gym. I’m excited, but also a little intimdated. I need to call them to find out how it works though… as soon as my voice comes back.

– It’s Groundhog Day!! Which means Howdy and I will be spending the evening with Bill Murray. We often joke that one of the first random things we had in common was a love for that movie. 🙂

And the LOSERS:

– My voice is still gone. We’re on 5 days now without a voice (or a froggy man voice, which may as well not be a voice) and it’s becoming  really annoying. Although my inability to communicate via phone has increased my blog posting, twitter updates, and Facebook usage… so maybe it’s not all bad. ha.

– I have not worked out in about 2 weeks.  The treadmill was having issues and my “workout room” downstairs has been cluttered with the pieces of the new bookshelves we are putting together as part of organizing the office. And I’ve been sick (and okay, maybe a little lazy too).

– I will be in Orlando, Florida in 36 days (give or take) for a friend’s wedding. I am in the wedding, and had to email her my measurements 2 days ago for my bridesmaid dress. Yeah, that was definitely one of the more depressing moments I’ve had lately. Only slightly less mortifying than when I realized just how white I really am from lack of sun (thank you, Alaskan Winter). SO I have just over a month to somehow get some color on my skin before I have to squeeze myself into this bridesmaid dress (not the actual color, but let’s all be  relieved that it’s long):

Since I do “feel” great (see WINS), except for the no-voice thing (see LOSERS), I’m thinking I might try to get a workout in tonight. Even if it’s just a little one, any movement is better than none at this point.

Sooo glad you got your coffee maker working! I’m all for mystic tanning because I’m too impatient to go tanning :oP

I LOVE the coffee maker!! I’m still debating my tanning options…time vs. cost vs. color. 🙂

Sooo jealous of your groupon. We don’t get good ones like that! What color is the bridesmaid dress? And I like the gradual addition of color from a bottle 🙂

We’re wearing the “truffle” color. I’ve considered the bottle option too… I’m just literally the color of a while porcelain plate right now, so I’m terrified of turning orangish if I don’t get it just right. 🙂

I bow down humbly in the presence of such grenatses.
