The list keeps getting longer

March 4, 2010

In almost exactly 2 months we’ll be leaving Charleston. The amount of checklist items that need to be completed between now and then is starting to get overwhelming. My job situation is nailed down, but there are still quite a few logistical details to take care of – setting up hardware, installing some software, your basic nerdy-computer stuff, and some paperwork. There’s also the question of renting our house here – there are still several things we need to do before it’s ready to rent (such as replacing the garage door), as well as actually sitting down and working things out with the property management company and finding a renter. I also have a dentist appointment, and a series of doctor appointments that are required to get the necessary medical paperwork for moving. Since we’ll be outside of the continental United States, there are a bunch of medical hoops to jump through before they’ll officially sign off on everything.Β Of course, we also still have to close on the Alaska house (via FedEx), figure out how we’re going to get ourselves and our belongings to Alaska (U-haul, PODS, professional movers, etc…), pack everything in our current house, hopefully sell my car, say good-bye to our wonderful friends here, and a whole bunch of minor things in between.

Oh – and just to make things more fun – Howdy has been home one full day in the last two and a half weeks, and rumor is after he gets home this weekend, he’ll be gone again until the end of March. We might get to see each other Thursday night, but I leave on Friday morning for Orlando, and he’ll be gone before I get home on Monday night. It’s how these things go, but I’m still a little bummed (and stressed!).

Hi! I found your blog in the comments of the Fitnessista’s blog. You mentioned Alaska. I live in Anchorage and am also a runner. I moved here last May. Can’t believe it’s almost been a year. Hope your move goes smoothly! πŸ™‚

Thanks for stopping by! I’d be interested in hearing more about where you run up there, since I’m hoping to keep up with it after the move.

Two months?? Good luck! So is Howdy going to be at home more once you move?

Hopefully he’ll get to be home more when we’re up there! As of right now it looks like that’s going to be the case, but I don’t want to get my hopes too high – just in case. πŸ™‚
